Ohio Mennonite Relief Sale Terms and Conditions of Sale
10% buyers premium on online purchases.
1. All Sales Are Final
All purchases are final. We do not accept returns or exchanges. Because the items offered at the Ohio Mennonite Relief Sale are unique, one-of-a-kind, or donated goods, substitutions are not available.
2. Condition of Items and Bidder Inspection
All items are sold “AS IS, WHERE IS,” with all faults. Descriptions, photographs, estimates, and other details are believed to be accurate and are provided in good faith, but are not warranted. They are subject to correction or change without notice, including up to the time of sale. In the event of a discrepancy, the item as physically offered governs the sale.
Buyer inspection is encouraged. By placing a bid, the bidder signifies that they have examined the item to their satisfaction, or that they have chosen not to personally examine it. The Sale makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the condition, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose of any item.
3. Bidding
The Sale reserves the right to reject any bid at its sole discretion. Absentee bids, where accepted, are executed competitively on the bidder’s behalf up to the bidder’s stated maximum, and only as needed to maintain the bidder’s position against other bids.
For online bidding, the Sale reserves the right to cancel, suspend, extend, or reopen the auction in the event of system or technical failures.
4. Payment
Full payment is due before items leave the sale premises. For online and absentee buyers, payment in full is due within five (5) business days of invoice. Items will not be released for shipment until payment is received and confirmed.
We accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard. A surcharge of 3% applies to payments made by credit or debit card. Applicable sales tax, if any, will be added at checkout.
5. Pickup and Shipping
Items purchased in person should be picked up at the Sale location before 5 P.M. on the Sunday immediately following the Sale.
Not all items are available for shipment. Shipping availability is stated in the item listing — please review listings carefully before bidding or purchasing.
For items designated as shippable, the Ohio Mennonite Relief Sale will arrange shipping on the buyer's behalf. Shipping and handling costs are the responsibility of the buyer and will be invoiced separately. Payment of shipping charges is due before the item is shipped. Items will be packed with reasonable care; however, the Sale makes no warranty regarding shipping and is not responsible for carrier delays.
Risk of loss or damage passes to the buyer upon handoff to the carrier. If an item arrives with damage that prevents its intended use—and that damage is attributable to shipping rather than pre-existing condition—please notify us within seven (7) days of delivery. Vintage, antique, and handcrafted items may show age-appropriate wear, patina, or staining; these characteristics are not considered damage. For verified shipping damage, the Sale will issue a refund of up to the full purchase price of the item, at the sole discretion of the Sale.
6. Tax Deductibility
The Ohio Mennonite Relief Sale is a fundraiser benefiting Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
When you purchase an item at the Sale, only the portion of your payment that exceeds the item’s fair market value (FMV) may be tax-deductible as a charitable contribution. Your receipt will identify the fair market value of your purchase and the tax-deductible amount, if any. Please retain your receipt for tax purposes. We recommend consulting a qualified tax advisor regarding your individual circumstances
7. Auctioneers and Governing Law
The Sale is conducted by auctioneers licensed in the State of Ohio. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, and any dispute arising from a purchase shall be resolved in the courts of Holmes County, Ohio.
8. Buyer’s Premium
A buyer's premium of 10% is added to the winning bid on all online purchases. No buyer's premium is charged on items purchased in person. The total amount due is the winning bid, plus any applicable buyer's premium, sales tax, and card surcharge.
