Why Relief Sales?
How Did Relief Sales Begin?
The Ohio Mennonite Relief Sale began in 1966. The sale was started by a group of dedicated individuals who wanted to aid Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in world relief. The first sale sold livestock, farm machinery, gravel, coal, new bicycles, eggs, and household goods. There were about 3,000 in attendance and the sale raised $6000.
Donations and Volunteers
The Ohio Mennonite Relief Sale has a policy of selling only what is donated by individuals, Sunday School classes, churches or other groups. Since its humble beginnings, the Ohio Mennonite Relief Sale has continued in its efforts to support relief to those in need around the world.
